Certification Fee Indefinitely Waived for Small, Minority, Woman, or Veteran-owned Business Enterprise

Updated:
May 6, 2021

Effective June 1st, 2021

The $100 filing fee to become certified as a Small, Minority, Woman, or Veteran-owned Business Enterprise (SMWVBE) will be indefinitely waived as of June 1st, 2021.

Becoming a certified SMWVBE offers numerous advantages, including exposure to both public and private sector agencies and firms who are considering solicitations for prime and sub-contract opportunities. Certification also allows businesses to compete in select set-aside or goal-based contracting initiatives offered by State agencies, including the Small Business Enterprise Set-Aside Program, which sets a goal of awarding 25 percent of state contracting and purchase orders to small businesses, and the Disabled Veteran-Owned Set Aside Program, which awards three percent of state contracting and purchase orders to businesses that are owned and operated by service-disabled veterans.

Registration is already free to become certified as a Disabled Veteran-Owned Business Enterprise.

New Jersey business owners may apply for certification in as many categories as they are eligible through the New Jersey Department of the Treasury’s online portal.
